How it works: the Glow Peel combines glycolic acid with mandelic acid, kojic acid and alpha-arbutin.

A superficial salicylic acid (BHA) peel designed for congested and blemish-prone skin.

Best for: acne, breakouts, blackheads, enlarged pores, oily skin, uneven texture

How it works:

Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, it penetrates into the pore itself and dissolves the sebum and debris that cause congestion.

It also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, calming redness while it clears.

Suitable for: oily, combination and blemish-prone skin.

Also often well tolerated by skin prone to redness.

A superficial glycolic acid peel with a higher concentration, formulated for skin rejuvenation.

Best for: fine lines, loss of firmness, dehydration, dull texture, early signs of ageing

How it works: a higher-strength glycolic acid resurfaces the skin while stimulating collagen production in the layers beneath. Phytic acid provides antioxidant support. Over a course, skin feels firmer and looks smoother.

Courses and packages

Superficial peels work best as a course. A single peel refreshes the surface; a course works with your skin's natural 28-day renewal cycle to create lasting change.

Sessions are usually spaced two to four weeks apart. Your practitioner will recommend the right interval for your skin.

Consultation

Every new client has a consultation and skin analysis before any peel.

This is carried out by our dermatalogically qualified medical practitioner

She will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and medical history, explain what's realistic, and recommend the right peel and strength for you.

This is also an opportunity to discuss any hair and skin concerns and explain all the treatments that are on offer at the clinic

If a peel isn't right for you, we'll tell you honestly and suggest what would be.

What to expect

​

During: the peel is applied for between three and seven minutes. Most people feel a mild tingling or warmth. It isn't painful, and you can ask us to stop at any point.

Immediately after: your skin may look slightly pink, similar to mild sun exposure. This usually settles within a few hours.

The following days: you may notice light flaking around days two to four. This is normal and usually minimal — CLINICCARE peels are formulated to avoid the heavy shedding of older-style peels.

Aftercare: we'll give you full written aftercare. The essentials are daily SPF 30 or above, no sun exposure or sunbeds, no exfoliating products or retinol for a week, and no picking or peeling the skin.

Is it right for me?

​

Chemical peels are suitable for most people, but not everyone. We may need to postpone or recommend an alternative if you:

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

• Have taken oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the last six months

• Have active cold sores, eczema, or broken skin in the treatment area

• Have had recent sun exposure or sunbed use

• Have a history of keloid scarring

• Are using prescription retinoids or have had recent resurfacing treatments
